Afro Dominicano – "Mangos & Wine" (Live Session)

As director and videographer, I crafted a visual narrative around forbidden love and Afro-Caribbean identity. The song explores the tension of longing for someone you can't have—"por más que tienes a otro, nunca dejaré de quererte a ti"—and I translated this through intimate, rhythmic cinematography.

Using amber-toned golden hour lighting, I created a warm sanctuary that mirrors the song's seductive invitation. My multi-cam handheld approach weaves between performers, capturing charged micro-moments lingering glances, shared smiles—that visualize the lyrics.

I grounded the romantic narrative in cultural authenticity through deliberate close-ups of traditional instruments (güira, tambora), while my editing pace shifts with the emotional arc smooth and seductive during verses, explosive during merengue breakdowns mirroring the journey from sweet desire to passionate ultimatum.

Result: A live session that captures both the sensory experience of forbidden desire and the vibrant pulse of Caribbean heritage.
