Whose Mans is this??
I grew up between worlds. Learned early that's where things get honest.
Parents from Moca, DR. Born in Manhattan, raised in Jersey. First-gen means you're never fully one thing. You're always reading the room, translating, catching the thing underneath what's actually being said. I never stopped doing that. It just became how I work.
That's why I don't start with the brief. I start by crossing over. Gaming brief? I'm in the lobby. Streetwear brand? I'm at the drop. I go live in someone's world until I see the pattern so ingrained nobody's named it yet. The habit, the unspoken thing, the real reason people reach for one thing over another. Then I bring it back.
Grew up deep in sneaker culture. Still clock the colorways, the cuts, the collab that shouldn't work but does. Some things rewire you. Mostly I think it taught me that the people who really know something carry it differently. And that's always worth paying attention to.
However I end up on a project, writing, producing, strategizing, the job is always the same. Cross over, Find the thing, Bring it back in a way that makes someone stop and think “how did they know?”
